This wedding/blog post is very near and dear to our hearts. April and Melanie have been friends since the sixth grade! Through many stages of life, they have been there for one another. When Mel and Zach met almost two years ago, it didn’t take long for Mel to know that she had found her soulmate. Zach makes her laugh. He truly listens and cares about her dreams, and together they work to live those dreams! To watch them together brings a smile to my face. On August 29, 2015, one day after welcoming their son into the world, April photographed Zach’s proposal to Melanie in the hospital! Exactly nine months later, we were there to document their intimate wedding! What an honor it has been to be present for so many joyous times in their life together.
Mel and Zach selected the quaint Faunbrook Bed and Breakfast for their intimate celebration. This historic mansion provided the perfect setting for the romantic, garden theme Mel had envisioned.
We started the day with make-up, and of course champagne!
When Mel told me which room she had reserved at the bed and breakfast, I was super excited. This beautiful bathroom had me drooling from the moment I saw it!
Pink and white peonies! Perfect for a spring garden wedding.
Mel searched high and low for the perfect jeweled belt! It definitely added just the right amount of glitz to the romantic style of the gown. And the scent? Any time I come home from being with Mel, my girls say, “you smell like Aunt Melanie.” It’s her signature for sure!
It may have taken Zach a bit longer to find the perfect attire for this occasion, but the look came together nicely and he looked quite dapper!
The beading on the back of Mel’s dress, combined with the lace and tulle, implemented classic, romantic, and contemporary all into one beautiful gown. And Melanie looked absolutely gorgeous wearing it!
At every dress fitting, Mel and Zach’s little man loved to play in the tulle. It was only fitting that we captured him enjoying mommy’s dress.
To say they were excited to see each other is a vast understatement!
Both Mel and Zach wrote their vows to each other. Heartfelt and meaningful words that are as unique as their relationship.
As mommy and daddy exchanged their vows, their son was all smiles!
That look of love and excitement.
It isn’t a secret that Mel and I are not fans of bugs. So I was quite surprised that there wasn’t more objection when I suggested we walk through the ivy and moss in search for this perfect spot. Well worth a few creepy crawlies in my opinion!
The side patio at Faunbrook was perfect for a wonderful meal with close family and friends.
I wrote and practiced my speech the night before. But in the moment, I couldn’t contain my emotions. Our friendship is so very special to me, and Melanie has been a part of my family for a quarter century! It was my honor to say a few words about her, Zach, and their relationship on their wedding day.
Mel has always loved sweets! The ice cream sundaes we used to make at sleepovers would disgust most people. She also has a deep love of CUPCAKES! Only fitting that they be served on her wedding day.
Melanie & Zachary, oh how we love you both so very much! We couldn’t be happier that you found one another and are building a beautiful life full of adventure and love.
